SSC CGL Syllabus

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has conducted time to time examination for recruitment of Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2020. Interested candidates need to check exam pattern and syllabus for preparation of this exam. Here we are providing SSC CGL exam syllabus and selection process in PDF version.

Selection Process: The candidates have to go through Computer based examination, Descriptive paper, Skill test, Computer Proficiency Test & Document verification. Selection will be based on computer based examination, descriptive paper, skill test, computer proficiency test & document verification. The duration of examination will be 120 minutes.

I. Computer Based Examination (CBE): There will be computer based examination of total 1000 marks. It will be divided in to 2 papers. Details of papers as following below.

#Paper-I: There will be computer based test of 200 marks (100 questions) each will carry 1 mark. It will be divided in to 4 subjects (i) General Intelligence and Reasoning, (ii) General Awareness, (iii) Quantitative Aptitude & (iv) English Comprehension.

  1. There will be objective & multiple choice of questions.
  2. The duration of paper will be 60 minutes.
  3. The paper will be set in English & Hindi language only.
  4. There will be negative marking of 0.50 mark for each wrong answer.

 

Detailed pattern of paper-I as following below

#Paper-II: There will be main computer based examination of 800 marks. It will be divided in to 4 papers. First paper will be based on Quantitative Abilities, (ii) English Language and Comprehension, (iii) Statistics & (iv) General Studies (Finance and Economics).

  1. There will be objective & multiple choice of questions.
  2. The duration of paper will be 120 minutes for each paper.
  3. The paper will be set in English & Hindi language only.
  4. There will be negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer.
II Paper-I: Quantitative Abilities 100 200 120 Minutes (for each Paper) (2 hours and 40 minutes for the candidates who are allowed use of scribe as per Para-7.1 and 7.2)
Paper-II: English Languge and Comprehension 200 200
Paper-III: Statistics 100 200
Paper-IV: General Studies (Finance and Economics) 100 200

 

#Part-II: Descriptive Paper – There will be descriptive paper of 100 marks. It will consists of Writing of Essay/ Precis/ Letter/ Application etc.

  1. There will be pen or paper mode examination.
  2. The duration of paper will be 60 minutes.
  3. The paper will be set in English or Hindi only.
  4. Detailed pattern of paper as following

#Part-III: Skill Test – There will be skill test for Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax).

  1. There will be data entry speed at 8,000 key depression.
  2. It be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions.
  3. The duration of test will be 15 minutes.
  4. It will be qualifying in nature.

 

#Part-IV: Computer Proficiency Test – There will be computer proficiency test for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC. It will be comprises of 3 modules as following.

  1. Word Processing.
  2. Spread Sheet.
  3. Generation of Slides.

 

# Part-V: Document verification – There will be document verification for those candidate who passed their above given tests. Document verification are required to appear for document verification along with the photocopies and original documents as following below.

  1. Aadhaar Card/ Printout of E-Aadhaar.
  2. Voter ID Card.
  3. PAN Card.
  4. Passport.
  5. Driving License.
  6. Government School/ College ID Card.
  7. Employer ID (Govt./ PSU).
  8. Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate.
  9. Educational Qualification Certificate.
  10. Caste/ Category Certificate, if belongs to reserved categories.
  11. Persons with Disabilities Certificate in the required format, if applicable.
