IISc Bangalore Admission 2021: PG & Research Program Eligibility & Application Form

IISc Bangalore PG & Research Program Admission 2021: Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has invited online applications from eligible applicants for admissions to regular (1) Research Programmes [Ph D / M Tech (Research)] (2) Course Programmes [M Tech/M Des/M Mgt], (3) Integrated Ph D Programmes, and to (4) Ph D under External Registration Programme for the Session 2021-22. Interested students can apply through the online and offline mode before 31st March 2021.

IISc Bangalore PG & Research Program Admission 2021:

1. Research Programs [Ph.D / M Tech (Research)]
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ 4-year Bachelor of Science with a Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory.
Master’s degree in Science / Master’s degree in Economics, Geography, Psychology, Management, Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science/ Application with Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ 4-year Bachelor of Science with a Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory. Master’s degree in Science / Master’s degree in Economics, Geography, Psychology, Management, Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science/ Application with Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory.

2. M.Tech/Master of Design (M Des) in Product Design and Engineering /Master of Management (M Mgt) Programmes
Qualification: For M. Tech Programs: Applicants possessing a minimum of Second Class or equivalent in a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of Engineering / Technology or *B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE (e.g AMIE by Institutions of Engineers). or Master’s degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics, Computer Applications as applicable to individual departments/programmes with a valid GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 score are eligible to apply.
For Master of Design (M. Des): Applicants possessing a minimum of the second class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology Design / Architecture with valid GATE 2019/ 2020/ 2021 or CEED 2021 score as on 02 August 2021 are eligible to apply.

3. Integrated Ph D Programs
Qualification: A minimum of first-class or equivalent in Bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences) or A minimum of first-class or equivalent in BE/B Tech degree. A minimum of first-class or equivalent in B Sc or equivalent degree with Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics as one of the subjects or BE/B Tech or equivalent degree.

Application Fee:
For General / OBC / EWS Category/ Sponsored Candidates: Rs. 800/-
For SC / ST / PwD Category: Rs. 400/-
For ERP candidates (all categories): Rs.2000/-

Selection Process:
– For Research Programs [Ph.D / M.Tech (Research): Candidates are shortlisted for an online interview based on their performance in the National Entrance Test and/or the qualifying degree. The selection is based on the performance in the interview (in some of the departments, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the interview/Final Interview).
– For M.Tech Programs: M.Tech programmes schedule for online written test and online interview
– For Master of Design (M.Des): Candidates will be shortlisted for an online design aptitude test and an interview based on the GATE / CEED score as per the schedule given on the IISc website under Important Dates. Selection will be based on 70% GATE / CEED + 30% performance in the online design aptitude test and interview.
– For Master of Management (M.Mgt): Candidates will be short-listed for online interviews based on GATE / CAT / GMAT scores as per the schedule given on the IISc website under Important Dates. Selection will be based on 15% (GATE / CAT / GMAT scores) + 15% UG performance + 30% Communication skill + 40% performance in online interview.
– For Integrated PhD Programs: Candidates will be shortlisted for an online interview based on their JAM 2021 score for all the four disciplines, and those cleared JEST 2021 for Physical Sciences. Selection for (a) Chemical Sciences will be based on the performance in the interview; (b) Biological, Physical and Mathematical Sciences will be based on combined performance in the qualifying examination and online interview.
– For PhD under ERP: Selection will be based on the performance in an Online Interview.
