Career as a Ticket Agent

Ticket agents are hired by airline companies for managing their ticket sales counters on the airports and for doing various other things. These professionals have strengthened their position in the society in a very short duration of time and have become an indispensable part of it. They also help the airline companies in conducting their operations smoothly and on time. Becoming a Ticket Agent can also be an exciting and rewarding career option.

Nature of Work:

Ticket agents often have to work at airport ticket counters and kiosks operated by the airline that they are working for. They offer complete customer care and support to their customers. They also help the passengers in tagging and checking of their luggage. Ticketing agents also have to handle the queries of the passengers regarding flight schedules and departures, fares, reservations by phone, etc.

Qualities That You Need to Have:

A ticket agent has to deal with different types of people on a daily basis. Therefore, it is essential to have very good communication skills as well as a pleasing personality. You will also need to have a lot of patience for being able to satisfactorily deal with so many customers.

Eligibility:

Anyone having successfully passed 10+2 or equivalent examination can apply for a ticket agent’s job. It would be better to have a bachelor’s degree if you want to pursue a career in this field.

Remuneration: 

Salaries in this field vary depending on the education and experience of the employee as well as on the size of the airlines. Larger airlines offer good salaries to their employees along with other perks and facilities. Those with higher educational qualifications are given higher salaries than the others. A newcomer can expect to get a salary in the range of Rs. 10,000 per month while the experienced ones can get up to Rs. 30,000 per month.
